Once the year gets underway, SNN will recognize Shining Seahawks and other cadets who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Also if your interested in seeing if the paparazzi, as you might call yearbook and seahawk nation news, are following you around check out the gallery below.
Cadets Recognized for Outstanding Performance
On Thursday, October 31, 2013, Cadet PO1 Tucker Ellis was recognized during Morning Parade for "Exceptional Performance." Cadet Ellis is now one of a few prestigious cadets who have earned the "Eagle Scout Merit Badge," the highest rank in the Boy Scout Program. Per Commandant Anthony Pullella, Cadet Ellis is "a true example of a
Delaware Military Academy Junior ROTC cadet leader."

On the same day,Cadet PO1 Jack Roberts and Cadet SN Hayden Kelly were recognized for "Exceptional Performance" as well. On October 19, 2013 they witness a car accident. The boys stopped and rushed to the scene. One of the passengers was badly injured. They called 911 and kept the passengers calm until medical help arrived. Commandant Anthony Pullella said, "In this world we live in it is
rare to find young adults who will get involved, let alone a horrific crash,
but [they] demonstrated tremendous caring and courage in this situation. [They] demonstrated maturity, leadership and
professionalism well above those of [their] age."

Shining Seahawks for the Month of September

Freshman Ava Rice, Sophomore Janice Scott, Junior Joe Czajkowski, and Senior Anthony Testa were nominated to be the Shining Seahawk of the month of September. These cadets have shown great performance and were nominated by teachers. Cadet Rice shows "exceptional behavior in Ms. Fabian's 11th grade math class, she has an A+ average. Cadet Rice is hardworking and always sets a good example." Cadet Scott has been nominated by Mr. Caskey for her "exemplary performance in Honors Historical Economics, she has received two superior grades on tests, and even wrote a rap on the free enterprise system in the United States, she is a truly talented cadet." Cadet Czajkowski has been nominated by Commandant Pullella for his outstanding leadership. Cadet Czajkowski was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington DC. "He is a hard worker and is involved in many school activities as well." Cadet Testa has been nominated by Mrs. Novick who says that "Anthony is a positive example for the other cadets in the class, and his work ethics are second to none. Being the National Honor Society president shows his great leadership, he runs the organization with great commitment." Congratulations to these cadets!

Also recognized during morning parade... Cadet Joe Czajkowski was recognized during morning parade for his attendance of the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security held in Washington DC. Cadet Kara Curry was also recognized during morning parade for her skill and professionalism as a volunteer EMT. In one of her recent ride-alongs she arrived at the scene of a patient which needed respiratory aid, which she was able to deliver. Her actions are those of mature leader and true example of a NJROTC cadet. |
Trevor Hill (not pictured), Emilly Gemato, and Seth Bruce where recognized on the 12th of September for excellence performance. Senior Tyler Hill has already been committed to Wilmington University to play baseball. Tyler plans to major in Business or Sports management. Congratulations to Emily Gemmato who was selected as an All-American cheerleader. Emily has now become the third All-American from DMA. Also congratulations to Seth Bruce who has become DMA's latest Eagle Scout. Seth built and stocked a clothing closet for East Side Charter School and said his project would not have been possible if not for the help of his fellow cadets Bravo Zulu. Congrats to these cadets for outstanding performance.
